The purpose of the BAC/Ultrac is to monitor the CP-system on pipelines. The system has been in wide-spread use onshore for several years collecting measuring data of various kinds and has performed excellently. Thousands of kilometres of pipelines are successfully monitored by this system in Europe, USA, China etc.
Measuring data are taken from a number of points along a pipeline, converted into digital signals by means of electronic communication units and transmitted through an insulated conductor for recording in a central receiving and signal processing unit.
