A trip down memory lane
As BAC Corrosion Control has been operating for 65 years this year, we have been looking back in time for something to share with you all.
And we have found this article, from the newspaper “Ingeniøren” a magazine written for the engineering community.
It is from July 3rd 1981 and informs about on of the first larger orders the BAC Corrosion Control won.
For the non-danish reading audience, it is about the delivery of 2.800 Zn ringanodes on each 534 kg, ordered to protect the naturalgasline from the GORM field in the northsea and through the belts.
The order was in 1981 prices on the lumb sum of 11 mio. DKK.
The alloy used was pure Zn (99,995%) with a little (0,3%) Al.
Lifetime calculations was for 25 years and the anodes had a thickness of 50 mm.
The article also mentions the first Al-Offshore order for the FRIGG field and that BAC has delivered more than 700 Al-Offshore anodes for GORM and a gasline running from Algier to Sicily. And new orders towards the TYRA and SKJOLD fields and that these was joined with the then competitor Impalloy.
